What a carpentry site needs

Show the hidden work

Footings, joists and framing decide how long a deck lasts. Photos of them show buyers you don't cut corners.

A page per build

Decks, pergolas, patios, renovations and repairs are searched separately. Each one gets its own page.

Materials, named

Merbau, jarrah, treated pine or composite. Your pages explain the options you offer, so buyers ring knowing what they want.

Permits, explained

Buyers worry about council approval. Your pages say how you handle building permits, if you do.

No prices, just how you quote

Size, height, timber and access change the quote. We explain that, never a figure.

How people choose a carpenter

Decks and pergolas are planned jobs, and buyers spend a while looking before they ring.

Homeowners adding outdoor space

They search 'decking' or 'pergola builders' plus their area, then compare photos.

Renovators

Structural work, doors, windows and stairs, often as part of a bigger reno.

Builders and other trades

Framing, fit-out and second fix, booked on who turns up and gets it done.

Landlords and strata

Rotten decks, stairs and balustrades that need fixing, often after an inspection flags them.

We build a page for each kind of job you want more of, and set up your Google Business Profile so locals find you.

Your registration, if your work needs one

Timber decking and second-fix joinery are listed as work that doesn't need a WA builder's registration. Bigger jobs can. Building work that needs a building permit and reaches the builder value limit, like many patios, pergolas and renovations, must be done by a registered builder in the areas the rules cover. If you're registered, your contractor number has to be in your advertising, so it goes in the top strip and footer, checked on the WA licence search. If you're not, we won't make it look like you are.

Photos that sell carpentry work

Phone photos are fine. Here's what to shoot on your next few jobs.

  1. Footings, bearers and joists before the boards go down
  2. The finished deck or pergola from the house, late in the day
  3. Close-ups of joins, fixings, stairs and balustrades
  4. The before shot: the bare yard or the rotten old deck
  5. The timber or composite name, written in the caption

Questions carpenters ask us

I'm not a registered builder. Is that a problem?

Not for timber decks or second-fix work, which WA lists as not needing it. We just won't call you a builder, and jobs that need one stay off your site.

Can you show decks we built years ago?

Yes, if they were your jobs. Tell us roughly when and where, so the captions are true.

Do I need a page for composite decking?

If you build with it, yes. People search composite and timber decking separately.

Should I list a price per square metre?

We don't. Height, footings, timber and access change it too much. Your deck page explains what changes a quote instead.
